Sugar Waxing

The old way, done right. Sugar, lemon, water—nothing else.

Book Sugar Waxing

Hand-crafted in-house, every batch.

Overview

Sugar paste. That's it. Sugar, lemon juice, water. It sticks to hair, not your skin, so it's gentler than traditional wax. Less pain, less irritation, same smooth result.

I make every batch fresh in-house. No preservatives, no chemicals, just the basics done right. It's been used for centuries because it works—and because it's kinder to your skin.

Tailored Advice

Ingrown prone: Exfoliate 48 hours before—this is non-negotiable. After, use a salicylic acid serum starting day 3. Consistency is key.
Sensitive skin: You might get a histamine reaction (little bumps). If your doctor's okay with it, an antihistamine before your appointment can help. The sugar paste itself is gentler than traditional wax, so you're already ahead.
Dry skin: Moisturize well in the days before, but come in with clean, product-free skin. After, wait 24 hours before applying any lotions.

The Process

1

Prep

I'll clean the area and apply a light powder to ensure the sugar adheres to hair, not skin.

2

Application

The warm sugar paste is applied in the direction of hair growth, then removed against it—pulling hair from the root.

3

Aftercare

A soothing cream is applied to calm the skin. You'll get specific instructions for the next 24-48 hours.

Before Your Session

Pre-Care Checklist

  • Hair needs to be at least 1/4 inch—think grain of rice length. Too short and the sugar can't grab it.
  • Exfoliate 24-48 hours before. Clean, prepped skin means better results and fewer ingrowns.
  • Shower before you come in. Clean skin is essential.
  • Don't shave or trim for at least two weeks. We need that length.
  • Skip the lotions, oils, or creams on the day of your appointment. Clean, dry skin only.
  • No sunbathing or tanning beds for 48 hours before.

After Your Session

Post-Care Timeline

First 24 Hours

No hot showers, no saunas, no gym. Skip tight clothes—let your skin breathe. No lotions, no products. Just let it be. Your skin needs time to recover.

Day 2

You can shower, but keep it lukewarm. Still no heavy products. If you see any redness, it should be fading by now.

Day 3 Onward

Start exfoliating 2-3 times a week. This is how you keep ingrowns away. Use a gentle exfoliating glove or scrub. Moisturize daily. Your skin will thank you.

What to Avoid

  • No sun exposure for 48 hours. Your skin is sensitive.
  • No swimming pools or hot tubs for 24 hours.
  • Don't pick at any bumps or ingrowns. Exfoliate instead.
  • Avoid tight clothing that rubs against treated areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does my hair need to be?

Hair needs to be at least 1/4 inch—think grain of rice length. Too short and the sugar can't grab it. Don't shave or trim for at least two weeks before your appointment.

Will it hurt?

Sugar waxing is gentler than traditional wax because it sticks to hair, not your skin. Most clients find it less painful, especially after the first session. Some areas are more sensitive than others.

How do I prevent ingrown hairs?

Exfoliate 2-3 times a week starting day 3 after your session. Use a gentle exfoliating glove or scrub. If you're prone to ingrowns, use a salicylic acid serum starting day 3. Consistency is key.

What should I expect for my first time?

Arrive with clean, product-free skin. We'll discuss your skin type and any concerns. The process takes 30-60 minutes depending on the area. You might see some redness for a few hours—that's normal.

How long do results last?

Results typically last 3-6 weeks depending on your hair growth cycle. Regular sessions help maintain smooth skin and can lead to finer, sparser regrowth over time.
