LASER HAIR REMOVAL

THE SUGARED DUCK

how does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in hair follicles with highly concentrated light. This light is absorbed by the melanin (color) in the hair, which is converted into heat energy. This heat destroys the hair follicle, preventing it from growing back. The procedure is precise, affecting only the hair and leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.

Laser hair removal is most effective on individuals with light skin and dark hair because the laser targets the pigment (melanin) in the hair. However, advancements in technology have made it possible for people with a range of skin tones and hair types to benefit from this treatment.

Best suited for:

  • Individuals with dark hair and lighter skin

  • People looking for permanent or long-lasting hair removal

Can also work for:

  • People with darker skin, using specialized technology for safer and more effective treatments

  • Those with lighter hair, though results may vary

Limitations:

  • People with white, gray, or very light blonde hair may see less effective results due to the lack of melanin in the hair.

  • Laser hair removal is not recommended for people with active skin conditions or certain medical conditions.

The Process of Laser Hair Removal

Preparation: Before treatment, we shave the area to ensure the laser targets the follicle and not the hair above the skin’s surface. You’ll also need to avoid sun exposure and certain skincare products before your session.

Treatment: During the treatment, the technician will pass the laser device over the area you wish to treat. Most people feel a slight tingling or warmth as the laser works.

Aftercare: We recommend avoiding direct sunlight and using soothing moisturizers post-treatment. Multiple sessions may be required, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, to target all hair growth cycles.
