What Are Other Guys Getting Done? The Truth About Male Grooming Trends

One of the most common questions I get in the studio is, “What are other guys doing?” It’s a fair question—when it comes to grooming below the belt (and above), there’s comfort in knowing what’s considered “normal.”
Here’s the honest answer: the most requested service by far is what I call the Back, Crack, and Sac Session. That means cleaning up the shoulders, the back of the neck, the full backside (yes, sometimes including the cheeks), but almost always the crack, the ball sac, and the shaft. These areas have become the standard for smoothness.
While the definition of grooming is personal, social norms have definitely shaped some go-to spots. Even as more guys are choosing to keep their back or shoulder hair—whether for aesthetics or personal comfort—the trend is clear: the crack and sac remain the non-negotiables for most clients seeking a clean, confident feel.
Not every guy wants to go fully bare, though. A growing number are leaning into a more natural, yet refined look. That’s where trimming and tapering come in. Rather than a close shave or wax everywhere, some clients prefer to simply clean things up—buzzing the hair down to an even, manageable length, removing wiry outliers, and avoiding that “over-groomed” vibe. The result? A look that’s still masculine, low-maintenance, and far from scruffy.

The bottom line: there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to body hair, but there is a growing awareness around looking intentional. Whether it’s for hygiene, confidence, or just comfort, more men are making grooming a regular part of their self-care routine.
